About Us
Gus Hoffmann immigrated to Canada in 1952, moved west to Edmonton, Alberta and began his electrical apprenticeship in 1953.
Completing his apprenticeship in 1957, Gus advanced to lead supervisor and saw the successful completion of projects such as the Law Courts Building, Cross Cancer Clinic, Glenrose Hospital, E.L.Smith Water Treatment Plant, and Northlands Racetrack Stables, to name a few.
In 1975 Gus decided to venture out on his own and so began Elite Electric Co. Ltd. Service work and small projects to start, Gus’s son David Hoffmann joined the firm part time in 1976 while completing high school and then full time in 1977 after graduating.
Elite specialized in Fire Alarm and Life Safety retrofits during the late 1970’s, expanded into School and Hospital renovations, then eventually into New Commercial and Hospital construction.
In 1986, from supervising projects in the field, David moved into the office, first as an estimator / project coordinator, then to a management role and eventual ownership of the company in 1995.
Throughout this time, growth continued in the Commercial, Hospital and Institutional sectors up to 1999 at which point Apartment, Condominiums and Seniors Living Facilities where added to our list of specialties. And most recently over the past 5 years, Hotels were added as well.
Presently employing 30 to 40 workers, our goal, as it has always been, is to continue to provide Professional Installations – on time and within budget.
